Belton #10 Project
Research & Development
The Belton lease, located in Muhlenberg County, KY offers a very long history to draw from. When I say history, I mean it. Located on 3,000 plus acres, there are wells that were drilled early as 1939. That is nearly 80 years of information to dive into. From a genereal standpoint, I can reference and locate as many as 25 wells on the property. I will be using some different methods to locate more wells, which I believe are out there, but have been covered up and forgotten about.
This is the largest lease we have gotten to date. Conceivably, over 250 wells could be drilled on the property. Below, I posted a map. Although it is crude, it will give some idea of the scope of this operation. I manually added each dot on the map to represent a well. It is not to scale, but will work for illustartion purposes. Each yellow star is an existing oil well. As you can see, it is huge area to develope. Electric and roads are already in place as well, which is a big bonus.
Belton #10 Re-start Well Specifics
This is the exact reason I wanted to get this lease. There are many wells on the property that were drilled and never produced. This is one of those wells. From doing reserach on the Kentucky Geological website, it says these wells were drilled in the 1950's. I will be running a very complex test on it, to see if there is any oil in the well. This well was drilled in the 50's was 13 feet of pay. It is approx. 650 feet deep.
Belton # 10 Well making it's first production oil.
Update: 2/27/16 I physically located this well today. I ran a string test, which confirmed there is some oil in the well. This merits putting a pump unit over it this week and see if I can get it to pump up.
Update 6/26/16 Well has been restored to working order. New parts downhole and pumpjack is installed. I need to finish the electric and run flowlines and she's ready to rock and make some good oil!
Update 8/1/16 Finished up electrical today on this well and started it up. It is currently in production!
